Title: PSM Coordinator/Utilities Lead Operator (Maintenance II)

Employee Type: Hourly

Reports to: Maintenance Team Lead

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Function/Department: Maintenance


From your PASSION to ours:

Position Summary:

Participate in the development and implementation of the Wausau PSM program, ensure compliance by contractors and Lactalis personnel. Maintain necessary documentation and audit controls. Be a plant PSM expert. Complete day to day activities for the plant utilities. Must be able to perform all normal utility operation duties. Utilities work to include in-plant distribution systems, piping, traps, relief valves, air leaks, etc. Must maintain required training for position.


Work Schedule: Normal work week is 5 - 8 hour days; the hours may vary with production. Overtime after 40 hours. Home shift will be 12pm-8pm with OT as needed. This position will flex as needed based on coverage and business needs.


From your EXPERTISE to ours:

Key responsibilities for this position include:

1. Maintain Plant Utilities

  • Coordinate use of maintenance personnel in utilities area
  • Recommend contractor needs and monitor contractor work in progress
  • Work with management and team to solve problems
  • Determine needs for repairs and coordinate completion
  • Keep the utilities in good repair and operational
  • Maintain alarm system documentation
  • Complete daily plant readings and temperature checks
  • First Responder team member

2. Assist in Training Needs

  • PSM & HAZWOPER SSP
  • Coordinate training of maintenance team members
  • Follow-up on yearly recertification and documentation
  • Ensure new partners complete safety training that pertains to utilities
  • Ensure training to PSM and audit requirements
  • Conducts monthly PSM team meetings
  • Attends monthly PSM teleconferences

3. Ensure that the Utilities are functioning as designed

  • Boiler operation and chemical feed system maintained per SSP
  • Ammonia system maintained per PSM
  • Efficient operation of compressed air system
  • Maintains plant HVAC systems
  • Wastewater meter calibration and sampling as required
  • Lead plant projects in utilities per budge and scope
  • Maintains utilizes meter reading log
  • Ownership of PSM programs

4. Reduce downtime and improve effectiveness

  • Complete and follow the maintenance process
  • Order necessary supplies and parts
  • Maintain downtime records for utilities equipment
  • Track downtime by cause so as to identify areas of needed improvement and create action plan
  • Complete PM and documentation of work orders

5. Manage Area GMP & Clean Up requirements

  • Ensure compliance with GMPs and housekeeping
  • Review monthly GMP, complete required tasks in a timely manner, and communication results
  • Complete housekeeping tasks and keep area clean and safe

6. Have a full understanding of utilities department operations and how it impacts production
7. Assist in Scheduling and consulting inspections including maintaining documentation
8. Support Maintenance Management in the Change Process

  • Demonstrate to fellow employees good leadership skills
  • Work with management to find cost savings solutions
  • Support team decisions through actions and words
  • Actively participate in maintenance team including assisting and supporting other maintenance activities (such as line calls, repairs, installs and PMs)
  • Directly involved with projects, improvements, and changes
  • Completion of projects follow ups including MOC, and other PSM program related issues

9. Other Responsibilities

  • Be flexible with hours as needed
  • Prudent use of overtime to control costs
  • Performs other work/tasks as assigned
  • Ensure compliance to audits and regulatory standards
  • Work with budgets and project scope
  • Assist in training as needed
  • Familiar with Quality programs as outlined in QRMP such as GMP's, Traceability, HACCP, Allergens, CCP, hold process and verifying raw ingredients.

Requirements

From your STORY to ours:

Must have Maintenance PSM, HAZWOPER, boiler, Ammonia, and Compressed Air Systems Experience. Must be capable of being on the First Responder team. Must be able to do basic math, communicate effectively, read and write proficiently. Must complete the following training requirements/evaluations (30-60-90 Reviews). Certified Training and other training courses as required. Able to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to work with minimum supervision, solve problems, and recommend solutions.


Other Requirements

  • Must be certified to operate a Hand Truck, maintain a fork truck and barrel truck license, Operate all shop equipment and various process equipment, able and willing to use a scissor and boom lift.
  • Use a computer for SAP & Safety Training
  • Facial hair must be kept trimmed in accordance with respirator fit testing requirements
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Steel toe shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, glasses, face shield, gloves & other job specific PPE)
