Job Description

We are looking for Field Service Technicians to deliver the exceptional customer service experience. Our goal at Wabash is to drive customer and employee success maintaining our Customer Satisfaction. This is an exciting opportunity with a leading manufacturer of stainless-steel sanitary processing equipment serving all industries used by all consumers, while working closely with a close-knit team to plan and accomplish all goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, repairs, maintains, directs specified testing of control, and trouble shoots stainless steel processing and storage equipment.
  • Ensures equipment runs at optimal levels and performs maintenance and repairs.
  • Responsible for setting up, checking, and correcting operational machinery and equipment.
  • Participates in the design, fabrication, installation, adjustment, qualification and operation of components and equipment systems
  • Assist the Aftermarket team by actively seeking new opportunities for spare parts, service, retrofits, etc. by having professional conversations with customers regarding their future and recommending improvements in customer processes.
  • Build and maintain sound business relationships and good public relations with customers to ensure their continued and/or increase business.
  • Accurate and timely job and cost reporting.
  • Perform TIG welding, grinding, fabrication blueprint reading, and work planning.
  • Establish contacts and relationships with customers in order to build/ maintain customer database
  • Assist in resolution of warranty problems to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Inspect product at regular intervals and complete all necessary paperwork and documentation regarding assembly and inspection records and procedures.
  • Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce cost and/or improve quality.
  • Mechanical construction, welding, fabricating, and grinding.
  • DOT Certified or can get certified.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Qualifications:

  • Requires two or more years of experience in fabrication or repair of sanitary equipment or closely related area. Familiar with a variety of the field fabrication concepts, practices, procedures, and tools.
  • Competence in reading, interpreting, and applying weld symbols and procedures is a plus.
  • Currently possess or able to obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Frequently required to lift and carry up to 55 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an environment requiring use of ladder, stairs, heights, platforms and climbing in and out of trailers or working under trailers in tight spaces.
  • Must have ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely, work with compressed air safely, operate fork trucks safely and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Requires minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body mechanics/movements.

Classifications:

Grade 5 - Employees at this level demonstrate the ability to effectively accomplish 4-5 of the skills required for this position, with the aptitude to grow.

Grade 7 - Employees at this level demonstrate the ability to effectively accomplish most of the skills required for this position. This level is capable of independently executing tasks on the customer facility. May be called upon to assist with the training of others.

Grade 9 - Employees at this level demonstrate a high level of ability in all skills and full accountability for job tasks, along with complex fault-finding/repair. This level is responsible for training others and developing new customers.
